Personal:

Pride necessarily sprouts and grows; a pride that can only come from relentless kneading of unwilling flesh, painful months of grinding and burning away all that is heavy, all that is strength-sapping and useless to the body as a projectile. --John L. Parker, Jr., runner/author

Starting at 6:30am, I ran 4.167 miles every hour, for 27 hours, until I was the only runner remaining. This "Backyard" endurance event was on a nice, rails-to-trails course along the White River in Cotter, Arkansas. Race Director, Jake Anderson, and team did a great job oranizing the event, and they went above and beyond in supporting and encouraging runners along the way. The event was a unique experience for me (as it is for most who undertake such), but I had a good plan and ran well. Loved the familial atmosphere in the Ozarks...and want to get back there soon. I'd be remiss if I didn't give a shout-out to my parents for helping me prepare and pack for what could have been 2+ days of running.

Great stuff, Wesley. I've missed out the last few months and missed all the ultra races you have done this year. Hope you and family are well.

Those "once an hour, unknown distance, last man standing" races strike me as particularly tough. Good job on the win.
